Which kernel should i choose

Before you post please read how to get help. I want to know how to determine which kernel to install. Linux Mint I think 5. Since old kernels cannot support new hardware, do new kernels provide old hardware support?

I cannot understand this by only looking into Changelogs or kernel. I'm asking this in general, but here's an example of my notebook, I'm using 5. How do I know it is the right or wrong one for my computer?

Org 1. Re: How to choose Kernel? Some kernels are long term support and others aren't. Try to stick to LTS kernels unless compatibility forces you to do otherwise. I did notice the latest kernel runs much smoother than 5. About stability of the latest kernel I can only say that it depends mostly on your hardware but that before you can download it there is first the testing from the Arch users actually even earlier the developers and then there follows a period in testing here.

But you have to know this is a rolling distribution that tries to provide the latest software so absolute certainty does not exist.

Could you explain how the hardware affects stability? As mentioned in the comments, you can set the default kernel to boot into using the grub-set-default X command, where X is the number of the kernel you want to boot into. Once you boot into the system with the older Linux kernel, start Ukuu again.

Make sure that you are not deleting the kernel that you are running at present. A real-time kernel is software that manages the time of microprocessor to ensure that time-critical events are processed as efficiently as possible. This means that the kernel will always try to execute the highest priority task that is ready to run. To check Linux Kernel version, try the following commands: uname -r : Find Linux kernel version. The Linux kernel has had three different numbering schemes.

It communicates between the 2, managing resources as efficiently as possible. Here when you compile the kernel for first time it will take time. I have attached link to start compiling kernel and install it. Now-a-days its quiet easy. Skip to content Android Windows Linux Apple.
